Get Over Yourself Already
This is really a kind of follow on from my last post about moving a WordPress site, mixed in with a couple of points I want to make in response to some of the things I see folks talking about in the Internet Marketing world.
One of my favourite forums recently asked the question about whether you would feel cheated if you found out someone offering coaching services didn’t really have that much more experience than you. Now there’s a huge craze at the moment (for those of you that dont’ know lol) to make big money by coaching people on how to make money.
Yeah right. It’s really a step up from selling an e-book on how to make money but you get to charge more because it’s called ‘coaching‘. Now I do not have a problem with folks new to the game offering coaching services as long as they know more than me. If they can teach me something, then I’m all ears.
I do, however, have a problem with greed! And unfortunately a lot of the folks offering coaching services are just outright greedy. They’re not interested in coaching you so you get to make more money or build up your skills. They’re purely interested in lining their own pockets.
Same goes with most of the stuff related to making money online. Do you know people are charging an absolute fortune to move wordpress sites? They get away with it because folks have convinced themselves (or been convinced by others) that it’s ‘too hard’.
Bullshit!
I just did it. And I’m a total technophobe. If there was an Olympic event for technical idiots, I’d win gold every time. No matter how much I try convincing myself otherwise, I just dont’ get it.
But you see, I’m wrong. My mind tells me I’m no good, but then I can go and do this techie stuff anyway.
I don’t care what your mind is telling you that you ‘can’t‘ do, the fact is you can do it if you just get over your self limiting beliefs and try the damn thing.
Let me give you another example. Flush with success from moving my first site, I set to on moving another one. Only this one was a bit more of a challenge because it had a static site on the main domain and a wordpress site set up on a subdomain. I wanted to not only move it but combine it into one site.
HUGE headache. The exported sql files obviously had all the wrong info in them because they related to the subdomain, (and yes, I realise you dont’ have a clue what I’m talking about here but bear with me ok?) so when I moved them everything got mixed up and nothing worked.
So I moved it back and set to work sorting it all out. And you know what? I did it.
There is nothing you cannot do people. You just need to get motivated enough, get off your backside, and do it.
It really is all in your mind. As Henry Ford said.
Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.
